Below are some ingredients in our hair care formulations that some of our consumers may not know. You can find the definition of what they are and how we use them. Here at Smooth-EZ we take pride in our ability to educate our consumers on what they are buying as well as our transparency.
Decyl Glucose
A mild non-ionic surfactant used in cosmetic formularies including baby shampoo and products for people with sensitive skin. Derived from plants and biodegradable.
Lauryl Betaine
Derived from vegetables, used as a surfactant for conditioners and aids in binding all the solid and liquid ingredients together.
Xanthan gum
A viscosity modifier, which makes products thick and creamy. Xanthan Gum is a binder, stabilizer, and natural preservative.
Sodium Chloride
A fancy sciency word for "table salt". Sodium Chloride thickens our shampoo and is a great odor eliminator.

Citric Acid
Citric acid can be found in citrus fruits such. This ingredient is added to shampoos to neutralize its pH. This compound is great for treating itchy scalp.
Benzoic Acid
Benzoic acid can be naturally found in plants and is used as a natural preservative.
Dehydroacetic Acid
Dehydroacetic acid is an organic compound which has several industrial applications. We use it as a fungicide to prevent fungus growing in our natural products and extends our products shelf life.
Betaine
Betaine is a naturally-obtained, high-performance additive for hair conditioners, useful for its moisturizing and structural protection abilities
Phenoxyethanol
A glycol ether used as a preservative that can be naturally found in green tea. We use this substance to prevent bacterial growth in our natural formulations.
Coco-Glucoside
Coco glucoside is a cloudy liquid derived from coconut. The substance aids in smoothing out the hair structure and makes it easier to manage. This ingredient can be found in our Smooth-E'z (deep conditioners)
Brahmi
Brahmi is a healing herb that is used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine. It is mainly used in supplements to help those with Alzheimer's better their memory, but we use this power herb as a hair tonic to increase your hairs strength and overall health.
Cetearyl Alcohol
Don't fret! This is a fatty alcohol and acts as an emollient, in our products. It helps make them thicker while soothing and healing dry hair cuticles and scalp.
Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein
Hydrolyzed wheat protein is a naturally derived wheat germ that adds volume to thinning hair, adds shine, and repairs damaged cuticles and hair follicles. This ingredient is very prevalent in our Sweet Almond Hair Milk to strengthen your hair from the innermost layer as well as make your hair appear more voluminous
Stearalkonium Chloride
This salt ingredient is derived from a fatty acid called stearic acid. This ingredient binds proteins together which is great for preventing frizziness as well as strengthens strands
Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate
A multi-purpose plant-based liquid that boosts the preservative qualities within a formulation
